Bidouane Tower

23m high and 13m wide, an important part of St Malo‘s defences, built on a rocky promontory during the second half of the 15th century

The tower was first called Bidouet then Champs-Vauverts, then the Bell Tower. It took its current name during its restoration of 1691 and was converted to be the gun-powder magazine (until 1889).

From the upper platform, you will find one of the finest views from the ramparts – La Varde headland to the east, Cape Fréhel to the west; and behind you, the city dominated by the spire of St Vincent's Cathedral.
