A news item causes trouble in a quiet town. An ordinary man becomes captain of a ship, not for his skills, but after the death of his predecessor. Its role is to transport slaves from the Island of Gorée to America. On a stopover in St MALO for the captain's burial, 5 slaves escape from the slave ship. A beating ensued which resulted in the horrendous deaths of 4 of them. The 5th, will continue to taunt the city by nailing one by one, his fingers to the door of the main persons responsible for the death of his companions. This story is carried by a fantastic actor. Dressed in white like a Pierrot Lunaire, Bruno Bernardin goes through its history, tossed about by fate. The striped mask, a great find, tells of the men transfigured by the intoxication of a manhunt, a death hunt and hides the shame that will ensue afterwards. The scratch announces the coming crack.

Les P’Tits Molière 2018 Laureate: Best actor, solo and directing.
Sang negrier is the first short story in the collection Dans la nuit Mozambique, published by Laurent Gaudé in 2007.
