Classification procedure for furnished accommodation

Classifying a holiday rental is a voluntary step taken by the owner or their agent. This classification is valid for 5 years, ranging from 1 to 5 stars. Once the label has been obtained, your furnished accommodation will then have the designation “meublé de tourisme”.

The new classification standards help to improve the quality not only of the facilities but also of the tourist services for all the accommodation concerned thanks to a more demanding, comprehensive and evolving model.

Why have a meublé de tourisme classified?

• Official recognition and a guarantee of quality for the owner and customers
• A national qualification supported by Atout France, the Ministry in charge of Tourism
• A tax allowance of 50% (BIC “micro-foncier” tax regime)
• The possibility of accepting Chèques-Vacances and benefiting from national Chèques-Vacances communication.

The classification grid for furnished tourist accommodation in force since February 1, 2022 is based on 133 criteria divided into 3 chapters:

• Equipment and facilities
• Customer services
• Accessibility and sustainable development

Some criteria are mandatory and others are optional.

Gites de France® supports projects and labels tourist accommodation in the countryside, by the sea or even in town with its “City-Break” brand. Whether for holiday homes, flats, bed and breakfasts or group gîtes, the label is awarded by obtaining the mark with a number of “épis” (ears of corn) ranging from 1 to 5.
