Festival presentation
Created in 2011 by Latifa Laâbissi and run within the Figure Project association, EXTENSION SAUVAGE is a nomadic project that combines a festival and an educational programme of contemporary dance in relation to the landscape, the living. Located in the Brittany region in the Ille-et-Vilaine département, it travels between the communities of communes of Bretagne Romantique and Couesnon Marches de Bretagne. Designed specifically for a rural area, it offers year-round experimentation with dance in a wide range of aesthetic forms for schoolchildren, amateurs, adults and children, as well as professionals.
The festival format takes place every year on the last weekend of June and the first weekend of July, crossing a rich and magnificent diversity of landscapes: the landscaped areas of Combourg, the gardens of the Château de La Ballue and the Villecartier forest at Bazouges-la-Pérouse. EXTENSION SAUVAGE is committed to an ethical approach to the practice of art, and is participating in the ecological transition within the performing arts sector by offering spaces for creation, residencies and artistic practices in rural areas. It links up and shares with many local players, artists, researchers, gardeners, landscape gardeners, art students, etc. Based around exchanges of knowledge that respect our environment, in the same spirit, it participates in the creation and running of networks at regional, national and European level, combining the local and the elsewhere.
The Figure Project association
Figure Project was created by Latifa Laâbissi in August 2008 in Ille-et-Vilaine, for the creation, production and dissemination of live shows and projects of a choreographic, performative nature and from related fields, as well as any activities that may arise from this (transmission, research…). From 2017 to 2019, Latifa Laâbissi was an associate artist at the Triangle – Scène conventionnée danse de Rennes and the Centre chorégraphique national de Grenoble – CCN2.
Figure Project is a company with national and international reach – CERNI, with the support of the Ministère de la Culture – Drac Bretagne. It is supported by the Ministère de la Culture – Drac Bretagne as part of the companies under agreement, the Conseil Régional de Bretagne, the Département d’Ille-et-Vilaine and the Ville de Rennes.
