The Quai des Bulles Festival
This festival was created in 1981 by Jacques Plouët accompanied by cartoonists Jean-Claude Fournier, Alain Goutal and Dieter, and quickly grew in size. Since its inception, the festival’s motto has remained unchanged: the desire to promote and support the work of authors and creative artists, and to help disseminate their work to the general public and more specific audiences.
For many years now, the festival has been held at the Palais du Grand Large, with a growing number of volunteers and a diversified programme of authors, meetings, exhibitions, events and more. It creates its “moments” that become must-sees for its visitors such as “Les contes à bulles”, its revelation prizes, its children’s area, its comic-book cafés, etc…
Each year, Quai des Bulles is supported by its association and welcomes around 40,000 visitors.
A festival for all audiences
At the Palais du Grand Large, facing the sea, the festival offers exhibitions of original comic strips, films, themed meetings and shows for all audiences.
The festival also travels to the neighbourhoods, to meet local residents, with exhibitions outdoors or in the Malouines infrastructures, visible over a long period of time, free of charge.
On the meetings side, to go beyond book signings, the festival programmes more than 40 moments of exchange with authors: conferences, graphic meetings, comic book cafés…
