1.

Le Canal d’Ille-et-Rance

In 1804, construction began on a canall that was almost destined for you.
Following a strategic decision by Napoleon Bonaparte in response to a British naval blockade: it was intended to carry goods between Rennes and Saint-Malo. Now it has a very different vocation: transporting emotions!

Find THE path that leads to the walkers’ paradise.

2.

Lock houses

A Napoleonic-style lock house and its own name: la Ségerie, la Malabrie, la Pechetière, la Charbonnerie, la Parfaire, house number 26, la Jaunaie, la Madelaine, la petite Madeleine, la Guéhardière, la Dialais. To find out more about the site and its works, the best thing is still to go visit the Maison du Canal.

3.

Kayaking along the Canal

Let yourself be tempted too by a water excursion in a kayak, what more beautiful route than this to feed off nature, breathe, recharge the batteries and enjoy the moment.

The eleven locks

a succession of 11 locks built over a little more than 2km, i.e. one every 200 metres on average, a real water lift! This unusual sight can be witnessed in Hédé-Bazouges, a small commune on the banks of the Ille-et-Rance canal

Discover this feat!

5.

Bike ride on the towpath

By bike, the greenway and footpaths, very popular in fine weather, will allow you to ride along the canal and enjoy some lovely stops along the water.

A ride for you!
