Visit the church at Broualan

Broualan, a small wooded parish home to almost 400 souls. Its 15th-century church, dedicated to Notre-Dame de-Toutes-Joies, is listed as a Historic Monument. One legend attributes its construction to a lady from Landal, in fulfilment of a vow she made to obtain the return of her husband, but it seems more likely that it was raised by the generosity of the local inhabitants.

Discover Pleine-Fougères

Classed as a Commune du Patrimoine Rural de Bretagne, owes its name to a plant that grows there in abundance: Pleine-Fougères. The Roche Buquet megalith proves that the site has been inhabited for 5 millennia. According to legend, Bertrand du Guesclin is credited with a popular saying that “when Roche-Buquet falls, the end of the world will come”.

La Maison du Sabot

This museum space, located in Trans-la-Forêt, is dedicated to Ferdinand Laigle, the last clog maker in the region, and to the making of wooden clogs. At the turn of the century, the Villecartier forest and other major forests were home to many families who made their living from logging.

Lang du Pas-Gérault

The ponds in Sains (Pas Gérault, Pissot, le Grand étang) were built to supply water to the mills. On this nature walk, you’ll be able to see many birds (ducks, geese, moorhens, great crested grebes, etc.). The pond is an ideal place to relax: many species of fish are caught here: eels, carp, roach, bream, tench, etc. The aquatic environment is home to a variety of damselflies, dragonflies and butterflies, as are the birds (kingfishers) that often stop off here. The picnic area invites you to take a break.
