The wonderful is everywhere

In Brittany, places and landscapes are inhabited… By stories, characters, and also legends. Here are two villages that are no exception to the rule.
The first is Broualan, a small wooded parish home to almost 400 souls. Its 15th-century church, dedicated to Notre-Dame de-Toutes-Joies, is a listed Historic Monument. One legend attributes its creation to a lady from Landal, in fulfilment of a vow made by her to obtain the return of her husband, but it seems more likely that it was raised by the generosity of the local inhabitants. The second village, classified as a Commune du Patrimoine Rural de Bretagne, owes its name to a plant that grows there in abundance: Pleine-Fougères. proves that the site has been inhabited for 5,000 years. Legend has it that Bertrand du Guesclin is credited with a popular saying that “when Roche-Buquet falls, the end of the world will come”.
